What makes Pink Flamingo stand out
Pink Flamingo started seven years ago on Rua Rodolfo Dantas and moved in 2024 to Rua Raul Pompéia 102, into the former premises of Le Boy. According to co-owner Thiago Araújo, the idea came about because there were hardly any LGBTQ bars in Rio where drag takes centre stage.
The venue has a regular drag cast and regularly brings in guests from all over Brazil and abroad, including Drag Race stars such as BeBe Zahara Benet, Ongina and Eureka. There are also DJs and dancers. According to guests, the club is large and air-conditioned.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is colourfully mixed and queer, and many come with groups of friends. The music, drinks and above all the shows get praise. Because the club opens early, it also suits anyone who doesn’t want to wait until midnight.
A good fit if you …
- love drag shows
- want to start the evening early
- are staying in Copacabana
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a quiet bar to talk
- are looking for a men-only bar
