What makes Prinzknecht special
From outside, numerous rainbow flags mark Prinzknecht as a gay bar. Inside, the brick walls are lit red all round, with stone floors and high ceilings: it feels upmarket and makes the large room seem even bigger. Prinzknecht is one of the largest gay bars in the city.
It is men only here. The crowd is mostly between 30 and 60, which is the Berlin average, and many meet friends here for a beer. At weekends it gets so packed you can barely move from one end to the other, and the flirt factor is correspondingly high.
Prices are well below those of many other Berlin gay bars, with shots from €2.50. It is open daily from 3 pm. Woof is on the same street, and Blond and Hafen are a few minutes away.
A good fit if you …
- want to meet men between 30 and 60
- like a large, stylishly furnished bar
- keep an eye on prices
- are out with friends
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out with female friends – it is men only here
- don’t like crowds – it gets very packed at weekends
- want to dance
