What makes Sodade2 stand out
Sodade2 was one of the first gay clubs in Gazi and is still one of the best known. This is Athens, the official city website, calls it one of the most popular gay clubs in the neighbourhood. The club isn’t huge, so on busy nights a queue forms at the door.
Inside there are two areas. At the front it’s mainstream pop and charts, often with Greek hits in between. At the back, DJs play house and progressive; this second floor only opens on Fridays and Saturdays.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is young and mostly male, plus international guests. Not much happens before midnight; from about 1 am it gets busy. Most regulars recommend Friday or Saturday, it’s quieter during the week.
A good fit if you …
- want to dance until morning
- like switching between pop and house
- are looking for a young crowd
Not ideal if you …
- want to party before midnight
- are out on a Tuesday or Wednesday
- are looking for a quiet bar to talk
