What makes the Crown & Anchor special
The Crown & Anchor is in the middle of Commercial Street, Provincetown’s main street, and is considered one of the cornerstones of the town’s queer scene. Under one roof it brings together the Paramount as a large waterfront club, the Crown Cabaret for shows, the Wave Bar with pop and videos, The Vault as a dark hangout for bears, leather and uniform fans, plus the Courtyard and Tryst Beach Club.
At the end of 2025 Tristan Schukraft’s Tryst Hospitality took over the complex. The bars and stages gradually reopened from late May 2026, while the 17-room hotel remains closed in 2026 and is set to relaunch as “The Tryst Provincetown” after renovation. The programme includes drag brunches, comedy, cabaret and theme parties, for example for Women’s Week or Spooky Bear Week in October.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is a colourful mix, depending on the week and the stage. With 4.3 stars from almost 1,000 reviews, the Crown & Anchor is one of the best-known addresses in town. The buzz is greatest in the evening before and after the shows.
A good fit if you …
- want a show, bar and dance floor in one place
- like drag brunch and cabaret
- are travelling for theme weeks such as Bear Week or Women’s Week
Not ideal if you …
- want to stay here in 2026 (hotel closed)
- are travelling in winter
