What makes the Eagle Bar special
The Eagle Bar is a small bar on Karangahape Road, Auckland’s queer nightlife strip on the edge of the city centre. The guests choose the music themselves via the jukebox. Early in the evening it is a good place for conversation and cocktails, which are often praised in reviews.
Later at night it gets much busier and flirtier, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, when it is open until 4 am.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd has a slight bear and leather touch and is a little older than in the clubs on the street. Guests praise the friendly atmosphere and the cold beer. With 4.4 stars, the Eagle is the best-rated gay bar on K Road.

- are looking for a relaxed bar with character
- want to choose the music yourself

Not ideal if you …
