GayOut describes The George as a gay-friendly design hotel “in the gay quarter” of St. Georg, and Queer in the World also recommends it for Hamburg. It’s a mainstream hotel, but no hotel is more stylishly located on Lange Reihe: in the evening it’s just a few steps to the bars, in the morning to the Alster.
Rooms and amenities
There’s an Italian restaurant, a British-style bar, a roof terrace overlooking the Alster and a spa. Guests praise the attentive staff, design and breakfast. Criticism includes high drink prices, bar noise at weekends in rooms above the entrance and some rather dark, dated rooms.
