What makes Touché special
Touché opened in 1977 on North Lincoln Avenue and later moved to Rogers Park in the north of the city. Its long-time operator is Chuck Rodocker. This makes Touché one of the gay bars with the longest history in Chicago and a fixture of the leather scene, which is especially active every year around International Mr. Leather.
At the front there is pool, darts and draught beer; at the back a steel cage and darker corners. Theme nights for leather and bear fans change in the calendar, and some nights have a dress code.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is male, rather mature and mostly from the neighbourhood: leather guys, bears and kink fans, plus visitors during the big leather weekends. The atmosphere is uncomplicated, and the bar lives off its regulars.
A good fit if you …
- like leather, gear and the bear scene
- want to be out after 2 am
- are looking for a men-only bar
Not ideal if you …
- want to stay in Northalsted (Rogers Park is far north)
- are looking for a mixed bar for everyone
