What makes Why Not stand out
Why Not is on the Danube Promenade on the Pest side, in District V. By day it’s a relaxed café with coffee and light meals; in the evening it turns into a bar with daily drinks offers.
Karaoke is by far the number one topic in Google reviews: on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 pm, volunteers take the mic. There are also bingo nights, announced on the Facebook page. Many guests rave about the sunset over the river.
Atmosphere and crowd
With more than 3,000 Google reviews, Why Not is one of Budapest’s best-known queer addresses. By day all kinds of guests sit here; in the evening the crowd is mostly gay. The service gets the most praise. On Fridays it’s worth not arriving too late, as many move on around midnight to the show at Club Alterego.
