What makes ZischBar special

Kaserne Basel is the large cultural centre in Kleinbasel, right on the Rhine. Its bar, the KaBar, is a meeting point for the whole neighbourhood during the week. On Tuesday evenings it belongs to the queer community: ZischBar is a relaxed bar night for talking, raising a glass and meeting people. In summer you sit on the large terrace on the Kaserne grounds, in winter indoors.

The crowd is a colourful mix of gay men, lesbians, trans and non-binary people and friends. If you are new to Basel, this is the quickest way to connect with the scene. On special occasions there are special editions, such as a karaoke night on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, with free entry; part of the proceeds goes to habs queer basel.

The KaBar is rated 4.3 stars on Google, with praise for the drinks selection, the terrace and the friendly team.
