Basel is an art city on the Rhine where three countries meet. The queer scene gathers less in dedicated gay bars than at regular nights in trendy venues.
The scene
A fixed meeting point is Baragraph on Barfüsserplatz. On Tuesdays the KaBar in the Kaserne becomes ZischBar, and on the last Wednesday of the month Sudhaus hosts the Queerhaus Bar.
When to go?
- June – Art Basel: The art fair draws an international crowd.
- Summer: Swimming in the Rhine.
