What makes Haulover Beach special
Haulover lies north of Bal Harbour on Miami’s longest undeveloped stretch of beach. In the northern third, between towers 12 and 16, swimwear is optional, and gay visitors gather at the northern end.
Cool boxes, drinks and chairs are allowed, inflatables are not. Beach ambassadors in green safari hats answer questions. The car parks can fill up at peak times.
Atmosphere and crowd
A relaxed, inclusive nudist beach with couples, groups of friends and many locals. Men predominate at the gay northern end, mostly 40+, with younger people coming at weekends too.
A good fit if you …
- want to go nude on a lifeguarded beach
- are looking for a quieter beach than South Beach
- are travelling by car
Not ideal if you …
- are arriving without a car or rideshare
- want bars and nightlife right on the beach
