In March 2024 the legendary Tom’s Bar became Boyberry: Schöneberg’s best-known cruising bar now has a bright wooden bar area, and the darkroom in the basement is still there. It is open every night until at least 5 am.

What makes Boyberry special

For decades Tom’s Bar on Motzstraße was a fixture of the Berlin scene. After a refurbishment it reopened on 22 March 2024 as Boyberry Berlin. Behind it is Joan Igual, who also runs Boyberry bars in Barcelona and Madrid, together with former Tom’s Bar owner Jürgen Streblow.

Since the refurbishment the bar is brighter and more open: you can look in from outside, and the design relies mainly on wood. On the right a long bar runs almost the whole length of the room, plus standing tables. Boyberry is famous for its darkroom with cabins in the basement.

Atmosphere and crowd

Boyberry is exclusively for men. Most guests are between 25 and 40, but older men come too. If you want to cruise, this is the right place, and the flirt factor is correspondingly high. There is a door policy, and once inside it is customary to order a drink straight away.

Hafen is right next door, and Prinzknecht and Bull Bar are also just a few minutes away.
