What makes the Castro Theatre special
The Castro Theatre is the neighbourhood’s landmark. During the renovation the ceiling and proscenium were restored, and air conditioning and accessible seating were added. It is run by Another Planet Entertainment, so the programme is broader than before. Queer dates appear regularly in the calendar.
Programme
Autumn 2026 includes a Frameline screening, BERTHA: Grateful Drag, the 4K version of Small Town Gay Bar with Peaches Christ and the Gay Men’s Chorus holiday concert.
A good fit if you …
- want to experience queer film history
- want to see drag or choir concerts in a historic hall
Not ideal if you …
- expect an exclusively LGBTQ+ programme
