What makes Crews & Tangos special

Crews & Tangos occupies two 1850s townhouses on Church Street. In 2004 the gay bar Crews and the lesbian bar Tango next door merged into one venue. Since then there has been drag every night, and many well-known queens started on this stage, including Priyanka, the first winner of “Canada’s Drag Race”. Every year Miss Crews & Tangos is crowned here too.

For a long time its future was threatened by a high-rise project. The city rejected the tower, and in 2025 a new operating partnership secured its continued operation. The main stage, two dance rooms, karaoke and two patios are spread over several levels.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is very mixed: young Toronto queers, drag fans, tourists and groups. It is busiest on Fridays and Saturdays around midnight, and usually stays busy until closing. The drag shows get particular praise.
