What makes Hotpot stand out

Hotpot is on Petrinjska, a few minutes from Ban Jelačić Square, and is one of the few exclusively queer meeting places in the city centre. The bar is upstairs and the dance floor in the basement. There are drag shows, theme parties and quiz nights, and the music swings between EDM, R&B, 2010s pop and Croatian pop.

According to one regular, a highlight is the first Wednesday of the month, when trash-folk from the Balkan countries is played and mainly young people come. On party nights things usually get going around 11 pm, and it’s busiest after midnight.

Atmosphere and crowd

The crowd is mostly male – young locals and tourists – plus groups of queer friends. Guests praise the friendly, welcoming atmosphere and mention individual bartenders by name. One long-time visitor writes that the team has become ever warmer over the years.
