What makes iub Bar stand out
“Iub” is Romanian for “I love”, and the bar on Strada Blănari aims to be exactly that: a warm, respectful place for the queer community in the heart of the old town. It opened in 2021 as Boys Bar and is now called iub Bar.
The space is small and cosy, and according to guests remarkably clean. There are cocktails, music of all genres, karaoke, drag performances, occasional concerts and theme nights. For many, iub Bar is the place to warm up before heading to Q Club.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mixed, locals and travellers who appreciate a discreet setting. It’s busiest after 11 pm. The friendly, competent staff and the drinks are praised. One guest writes that in a city with few LGBTQ meeting places, it’s wonderful to have a place like this.
