What makes Jakobstube special
Jakobstube is in the Leonhardsvorstadt, Stuttgart’s first town extension, in a listed baroque house. The pub is small and tiled, many guests sit right at the bar, and on the left there’s a larger seating corner. In summer there are chairs outside the door. The owner is Claudia Rupprich, and the team is known for drawing newcomers into conversation straight away.
Most guests are men between 30 and 60. There’s a loyal regular clientele, and thanks to the central location many people drop in spontaneously on a tour of the old town. Jakobstube is known for its homemade bread liqueur. There’s also beer, wine and wine spritzers, long drinks, coffee and soft drinks at comparatively low prices.
Almost all of Stuttgart’s queer bars are around the town hall: reBOOTS is only 300 metres away, and you can reach Rubens and Café Weiß in a few minutes on foot.
A good fit if you …
- like rustic pubs with an open team
- want a cheap drink
- want to try the homemade bread liqueur
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out on a Monday, it’s closed then
- want to dance
- are looking for a crowd under 30, Rubens is the place for that
