What makes the Naz Foundation stand out

The Naz Foundation was founded in 1994 in response to HIV and AIDS. In 2001 it filed a lawsuit against Section 377, the colonial law against same-sex sexuality. In 2009 the Delhi High Court ruled in its favour, and in 2013 the Supreme Court overturned the ruling. The section finally fell in 2018. This history can’t be understood without the Naz Foundation’s long fight.

Today the organisation runs an LGBTQIA+ centre in Delhi. The Naz Clinic offers medical and psychiatric consultations, HIV and syphilis tests, PrEP and PEP at reduced cost, and vaccinations against HPV and hepatitis B. There’s also a peer helpline, legal advice, the QARE mental health programme and monthly support groups.

Atmosphere and crowd

The Naz Foundation isn’t a bar or a place to go out, but a point of contact for counselling and health. According to its 2025/26 activity report, it reached around 15,000 people. Its services are aimed mainly at people living in Delhi.
