What makes OASIS special
OASIS is run by D’Arcy Drollinger, drag artist and San Francisco’s first official Drag Laureate. The stage is known for lavish productions: drag shows, musical parodies, cabaret and parties such as Princess, the all-Black drag show Reparations or the male revue Baloney.
In July 2025 OASIS was on the brink of closing, but a million-dollar donation from Mary and Mark Stevens made it possible to buy the building, a former bathhouse. After seven months of renovation it reopened on 17 July 2026, with a gold-tiled bar, new murals, green walls and a pink champagne room.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is very mixed: queers, theatre fans, groups of friends and visitors. The drag shows, the entertainment and the bartenders get praise. If you want to experience drag as grand stage art, this is the place.
A good fit if you …
- want to see drag as a show and not just an interlude
- like buying tickets in advance for a set night
- want to dance after the show
Not ideal if you …
- are under 21
- want to turn up without a ticket on a sold-out night
