What makes Pearl Bar special
Julie Mabry opened Pearl Bar in 2013, and today it’s Houston’s only lesbian bar. In 2020 it was one of ten LGBTQ bars in the USA to receive a grant from the Human Rights Campaign and Showtime to preserve queer spaces.
There’s a bar with a dance floor and a big patio. The programme includes theme nights, karaoke, drag and benefit nights for LGBTQ projects.
Atmosphere and crowd
Queer women are the focus, and everyone is welcome. The crowd is relaxed and mixed, many between their mid-20s and mid-40s, including trans and non-binary guests.
A good fit if you …
- are looking for a bar for queer women
- like sitting on a big patio
- like karaoke and theme nights
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out on a Monday
- want a bar within walking distance of Montrose
