What makes Rich’s special
Rich’s opened in 1983 on San Jacinto Street and became known as the „Studio 54 of the South“. In 2019 owner Jeff Harmon moved the club to Montrose, and in 2025 Rich’s returned to its old address after an overhaul of lighting and sound costing around a million dollars and a complete redesign.
Today Rich’s is more a versatile event venue than a club with fixed weekend nights: concerts, DJ nights, Pride parties, weddings and private parties.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd depends heavily on the event; at the big parties it’s mostly gay men between their early 20s and mid-40s, and very mixed at Pride.
A good fit if you …
- want to go to a big party or Pride afterparty
- want to experience Houston club history
- like big lighting and sound systems
Not ideal if you …
- want to go out spontaneously without checking the calendar
- are looking for a bar for any night
