What makes Roscoe’s special
Roscoe’s has been at the intersection of Halsted Street and Roscoe Street since 1987, in the heart of Northalsted, the queer neighbourhood in Chicago’s north. The bar has several rooms, screens with music videos and a dance floor, and Sidetrack is right across the street.
The programme features drag shows, karaoke, duelling pianos and viewing parties for “RuPaul’s Drag Race”. A fixed date is the drag brunch “Served!” every Saturday from 12 to 4 pm, hosted by Batty Davis, with two seatings and bottomless mimosas.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is broadly mixed, mostly male, with lots of locals and visitors from out of town. At weekends the atmosphere is loud and exuberant; during the week it is more relaxed.
A good fit if you …
- want to experience drag brunch on a Saturday
- like music videos and a dance floor
- want to bar-hop in Northalsted
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a quiet bar for conversation
- are under 21
