What makes Salvation Star stand out
Salvation Star doesn’t have its own bar. Parties take place in trendy bars and clubs, such as Toast & Tonic in Bandra Kurla Complex, Monkey Bar in Bandra or as the Taboo Soirée at Kitty Su. The aim is to regularly open ordinary Mumbai bars to queers. Under the name BAIT there are also pop-up Pride parties with Bollywood music.
The big parties on New Year’s Eve and Diwali are especially well known. If you pay in advance, you get in faster. With Salvation Starlets there are dedicated parties and meet-ups for queer women, and friends and family are welcome too.
Atmosphere and crowd
Salvation Star sees itself as a stylish host, with good food and wine rather than a mass party. For many, the series has been the gateway to Mumbai’s queer scene for years, with nights specifically for women and for trans people.
A good fit if you …
- want to celebrate New Year’s Eve or Diwali the queer way
- like parties in chic bars
- are a woman looking for the Starlets events
Not ideal if you …
- want to head out spontaneously without checking dates and venues
- are looking for a permanent bar with opening hours
