What makes the Seattle Eagle special
The Seattle Eagle on Pike Street has been Capitol Hill’s leather bar since 1981 and is considered the city’s oldest leather bar. Behind the rough facade is a no-frills bar with a patio where people drink beer and meet others. There are regular underwear nights, theme parties and hip-hop dance nights.
In 2024 the bar made national headlines when the state liquor board objected to guests in fetish wear. The community rallied behind the Eagle, and the case helped Washington change its rules on attire in bars.
Atmosphere and crowd
The crowd is mostly male, with a leather and bear touch, and sometimes surprisingly young. Many appreciate the laid-back dive-bar feel, and one regular calls the Eagle his absolute favourite queer bar in Seattle. At the weekend the place fills up late in the evening.
A good fit if you …
- like leather and fetish
- are looking for an uncomplicated bar without dress-code stress
- want to flirt late at night
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for a chic cocktail bar
- are under 21
