Fábrica de Arte Cubano, FAC for short, is a converted cooking-oil factory in Vedado where art, concerts, theatre and DJ sets all take place under one roof. For years it was one of Havana’s most popular night spots, with an open, mixed crowd.

What makes FAC stand out

FAC was opened in 2014 by the musician X Alfonso and is less a club than an entire cultural quarter. In the former cooking-oil factory with its distinctive brick chimney, exhibitions, live concerts, theatre, fashion shows and DJ sessions run in parallel across several spaces. Until now, drinks and food were noted on a stamp card and paid for on leaving.

Cuban media such as OnCuba describe FAC as a symbol of a new creative scene, and the venue has been nominated several times for international travel awards. On 7 June 2026 FAC announced it was temporarily suspending regular operations. According to Prensa Latina, it attributes the move to the economic consequences of the US embargo. Until it returns to its regular programme, it opens only for special events announced in advance; no reopening date is known.

Atmosphere and crowd

FAC isn’t a gay club, but a place with an open, mixed crowd of all generations, locals and travellers alike. For queer visitors it was long a natural part of an evening in Vedado.
