What makes Mi Cayito stand out
Mi Cayito is one of the most beautiful stretches of the beaches east of Havana. The queer meeting point is the left-hand part as you face the sea. A small river flows into the sea nearby, where you can rinse off the salt water. A café sells grilled food and refreshments.
The beach is a little hidden, but taxi drivers know it. Arrange your return trip at the same time, as it’s hard to find a taxi there, even more so with the 2026 fuel shortage.
Atmosphere and crowd
At weekends lots of young Habaneros come, and the mood is relaxed and sociable. During the week it’s much quieter. Local recommendations particularly praise the clear water and fine sand.
A good fit if you …
- want to spend a beach day with the local scene
- are in Havana at the weekend
- want to meet people
Not ideal if you …
- are looking for loungers, bars and service like at a beach club
- rely on public transport
