What makes Bourbon St. Pub special

Bourbon St. Pub opened in 1995 as a New Orleans-style entertainment complex. At the front there are five bars and a first-floor balcony overlooking Duval Street, and every night the Men of Bourbon go-gos dance on the bar.

Behind the building is the garden with a pool and hot tub, reserved for men and clothing optional. Since 1996, a drag queen has descended here at midnight on New Year’s Eve in a giant red stiletto; the Red Shoe Drop is one of the island’s best-known traditions. The block also includes 801 Bourbon, Saloon 1 and the New Orleans House guesthouse.

Atmosphere and crowd

Mostly men, regulars as well as holidaymakers and first-timers, many between their mid-30s and 60. The mood is exuberant and flirty, and it is especially busy during Fantasy Fest in October and on bear weekends.
