What makes Aqua special

Aqua is the heart of the Aquaplex, a gay entertainment complex with AQUA Theater & Bar, Back Bar, 22&Co. Bar and the Birdcage Cabaret. The in-house queens, the Aquanettes, are on stage every night.

In the Birdcage Cabaret next door, opened in March 2024, impersonator Christopher Peterson sings live as Cher, Tina Turner or Barbra Streisand. South Florida Gay News readers voted Aqua best bar six years in a row. Outside, the “Spirit of Stonewall” mural has commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots since 2019.

Atmosphere and crowd

A mixed crowd of gay men, women and holidaymakers, on average a little younger than at the bars further up Duval Street. At weekends there is dancing after the shows.
