What makes Callas stand out

Callas is run by Yigal Ranan, who previously founded the bar Evita in Tel Aviv. The bar is on Begin Road between Sarona and the business district, so a little away from the classic nightlife area around Allenby and Rothschild. There’s an open-air patio and an indoor bar.

The name says it all: divas, drag shows and stand-up are fixtures. On Thursdays and Fridays there are themed parties, and during the week the early-evening happy hour draws people in. Members of the bar’s club get a discount on the alcohol menu. Tickets for special nights are sold via Chillz.

Atmosphere and crowd

Guests describe the mood as warm and welcoming, explicitly also for queer and trans guests. Tel Aviv has lost several gay bars in recent years, so the scene is all the happier about a new permanent address.
