What makes Closer stand out

Closer is on a former factory site on the edge of Podil and has for years been one of Kyiv’s best-known clubs for electronic music. It plays techno, house and disco.

Especially important for the queer scene are the Vertuha parties: about every two months, 300 to 500 guests come together here, making it one of the biggest events of its kind in Ukraine. Minimum age is 21, and photos and videos are forbidden. Martial law with a night-time curfew is in force in Ukraine, so events usually end around 10:30 pm. Atmosphere and crowd

The Vertuha crowd is queer and turns up in glittering, theatrical outfits; many have been coming for years. Alcohol isn’t a must, and some guests drink tea. Guests praise the music, the DJs and the atmosphere.
