What makes K41 stand out
K41 is in a former brewery on the edge of Podil. Techno plays on the Ground Floor, the Second Floor and in the Glass Tower, and in summer in the Backyard too. Since reopening, the club has run as a non-profit: according to Dazed, the K41 Community Fund has raised over £700,000 for the front line, and there’s also an LGBTQ+ Veterans Hub offering legal, social and health support.
Because of the curfew, night-time raves have become daytime parties. They start in the early afternoon, and the last set begins around 8 pm. Dates and line-ups are on Resident Advisor and Instagram. Martial law with a night-time curfew is in force in Ukraine, so events usually end around 10:30 pm. Check the current security situation and travel advice before any trip.
Atmosphere and crowd
Dazed describes K41 as the capital’s only explicitly queer club. More than ten per cent of guests are serving or former soldiers. Photos are forbidden, phone cameras are taped over at the entrance, and discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.
A good fit if you …
- love hard techno
- are looking for a club with attitude and community
- want your entry fee to support something
Not ideal if you …
- want to post photos of the night
- are out without cash
