What makes Kumpelnest 3000 special
Kumpelnest 3000 started in 1987 as an art project by students in a former brothel on Lützowstraße. The installation became a bar that still has cult status today. The walls are covered in carpet, the lighting is dim, the decor quirky and plush.
The crowd is very mixed: gays, lesbians, straights, the art scene and night owls from every corner of the city meet here. Later in the night people dance to disco and Schlager wherever there is space.
The bar opens in the evening from 9 pm, on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 pm, and stays open until 7 am at weekends. Nollendorfplatz is about a ten-minute walk away, making Kumpelnest a good last stop on a night out in Schöneberg.
