What makes Pony special
Pony takes its cue from the West Village and Castro bars of the 1970s: cramped, loud, a bit scruffy. The patio, covered all year round with heaters and a fire pit, is the heart of the bar. DJs play almost every night, ranging from Italo disco to goth and post-punk, plus go-go boys and drag. If you want space and quiet, the weekend is the wrong time to come.
Programme
On Sundays the Tiny Tea Dance runs on the patio from 4 pm, and on Tuesdays there’s karaoke. There are also regular monthly series: Beefcake with gay hits from 1955 to 1985, Queen4Queen as a drag takeover, Nite Terror with goth and industrial, and ourHOUSE with disco and house. There’s no cover charge.
A good fit if you …
- like small, packed bars with a DJ
- are looking for a patio with a fire pit
- want to hear music away from the charts
Not ideal if you …
- expect lots of space to dance
