What makes RIPCORD special

RIPCORD has been on the corner of Fairview and Crocker since 1982 and calls itself the oldest leather bar in Texas. It’s the clubhouse for a large part of the city’s organised leather scene, including the National Leather Association Houston.

The room is dark and no-frills, plus there’s a patio. Throughout the year there are theme nights and parties, for example for Halloween or the anniversary. Readers have voted it Houston’s best leather bar several times.

Atmosphere and crowd

Mostly men over 40, bears in harnesses, leathermen and regulars, open to friends of all genders. If you like it rougher than in the polished dance bars nearby, this is the place.
