What makes Trend Bar special

Trend is on a quiet side street off Kirchgasse right by the Römertor, in the middle of Wiesbaden’s city centre. The ambience is a mix of bistro and pub: almost everything is made of wood, there are star garlands on the walls, fairy lights on the bar and ceiling, and plants in the shop window. In summer most guests sit outside the entrance. The bar is air-conditioned and Wi-Fi is free.

According to mann-liebt-mann.de’s on-site research, bartender Michael welcomes his guests very warmly. Most guests are between 40 and 70, many come for an after-work beer, and the place thrives on its regulars. People talk here rather than hook up. The music is relaxed and mostly from the last decades of the 20th century.

Because the scene in Wiesbaden and neighbouring Mainz is small, Trend is an important social place, especially for older gay men. In Google reviews guests describe the atmosphere as warm: inconspicuous from the outside, cosy inside. Heaven, the city’s second gay bar, is a good 500 metres away.
