Switzerland is small, expensive and surprisingly queer. Zurich has the country’s biggest scene, with bars in the Niederdorf and parties around Langstrasse; Geneva, Basel and Bern have smaller but loyal communities.
In winter the gay ski weeks in the mountains are worth a trip, in summer Zurich Pride in June.
Legal situation: marriage equality since July 2022; discrimination based on sexual orientation is a criminal offence.
