San Antonio is one of the largest cities in Texas, shaped by Mexican-American culture and the River Walk. The queer scene is compact, bilingual and noticeably influenced by Tejano culture.
The scene
The centre is the Main Avenue Strip in Tobin Hill, recognised as a Pride Cultural Heritage District since 2025. Pegasus, Sparky’s Pub, Knockout with The Eagle, Heat and Let’s Be Honest are close together there. Downtown is the Club Bonham Exchange, and for line dancing you head to SA Country Saloon.
When to go?
- April: Fiesta San Antonio with the drag parody Cornyation
- June: Pride Bigger Than Texas with a parade on the Strip (check the date in advance)
