Ibiza is Europe’s party island – and the gay scene has its firm place here. Below the Dalt Vila old town lies a lane where everyone meets in summer.
Carrer de la Verge
The bars line the narrow Carrer de la Verge (Carrer de la Mare de Déu) in the old harbour quarter of Sa Penya: the friendly Dado Bar with drag, the laid-back Bar Nini (formerly Bar 22) for the first drink, and the Sunrise cocktail lounge. Afterwards it’s off to the island’s big clubs.
When to go?
- May to October: The season – many bars only open in summer.
- High summer: That’s when the big clubs host their best-known parties.
- Out of season: The island is very quiet.
Our favourites
- To start the night: Bar Nini.
- For drag: Dado Bar.
