Ecuador is one of the South American countries with far-reaching rights for queer people and has had marriage equality since 2019. The biggest scene is in Quito with the nightlife district of La Mariscal, followed by Guayaquil. Pride marches take place in both cities at the end of June.
Legal situation: Same-sex couples have been able to marry since a Constitutional Court ruling on 12 June 2019 (civil unions since 2008), and the constitution prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
