Paraguay

Paraguay is one of South America’s more conservative countries, and queer life takes place mainly in the capital. Meeting points are a handful of bars and saunas in central Asunción. A Pride march has been held there every year since 2004.

Legal situation: Homosexuality has been legal since 1990, but the constitution limits marriage and civil unions to a man and a woman, same-sex couples are not recognised, and there is no general anti-discrimination law covering sexual orientation.
