San Juan

San Juan is the Caribbean’s hottest queer party city – with reggaeton, drag and nights that only start at two in the morning. Between the colonial lanes of the Old Town and the clubs of Santurce, Puerto Rico shows its most vibrant side.

Nightlife is concentrated in Santurce: at Toxic Nightclub people dance to reggaeton until five, Kweens Klub offers drag with international guest stars, and SX The Club is the late, cruisy venue for men. For pre-drinks with locals, head to Tía María’s, one of the oldest gay bars on the island. In the Old Town, La Sombrilla Rosa draws people in for happy hour, and if you want to carry on after the club, you will end up at Xteamworks. During the day the scene meets on the beach in Condado and Ocean Park.

When to go?

• June – Orgullo / Pride: In 2026 the 36th Pride parade made its way on 7 June from Parque del Indio in Condado along Avenida Ashford to Parque del Tercer Milenio.
• Friday – guest stars at Kweens Klub: On most Fridays an international drag star performs.

Practical tips

• Nights start late: before midnight the clubs are empty; they fill up from around 2 am.
• For German travellers, US entry rules (ESTA) apply, and payment is in US dollars.
• In Condado and Santurce the scene is visible and open; in more rural parts of the island a little more discretion is advisable.
