Guerneville

A small town on the Russian River amid redwood forests, around 90 minutes north of San Francisco. Guerneville has been a queer retreat for the Bay Area since the 1970s.

The scene

The scene is small and closely packed together downtown: the Rainbow Cattle Company on Main Street and the R3 Hotel with its bar and pool. Many visitors come at weekends or for events.

When to go?

  • Summer: weekends and events such as Lazy Bear Week
  • September: Russian River Pride, usually in the middle of the month with a parade on the Saturday
