Newcastle upon Tyne is the largest city in North East England and is known for its nightlife. The queer scene is compact and can easily be covered on foot in one evening.
The scene
Almost everything is in the Pink Triangle between Central Station, the Centre for Life and Westmorland Road. The Yard, Switch and The Eagle line Scotswood Road, along with the Number 52 sauna. There’s drag at Rusty’s and as a stage show at Boulevard, and at weekends people dance at Powerhouse.
When to go?
- Late July: Pride weekend, with a Pink Pass at Rusty’s in 2026 (24–26 July)
- Friday and Saturday: the main nights; many bars and clubs are closed during the week
