Lucerne lies on Lake Lucerne and is a starting point for excursions into the mountains of Central Switzerland. The queer scene is small; permanent venues are rare and much of it happens through parties and associations.
The scene
The most important permanent venue is the Discus Sauna in Kriens on the edge of the city, easy to reach by S-Bahn and bus. For bars and clubs, many people head to Zurich instead.
When to go?
- Summer: swimming in the lake and trips into the mountains
- February: Lucerne Carnival (Fasnacht) with parades and Guggenmusik bands
