Manila no longer has a gay district – but it does have one of Asia’s liveliest drag scenes. If you don’t mind the traffic, you’ll find shows, go-go bars and a community with plenty of heart and humour between Quezon City, Ortigas and the old town.
The scene
The former scene district of Malate has lost many bars, and today the focus is in Quezon City around Tomas Morato, Timog and Cubao. There the Rampa Drag Club draws the young drag generation, Rapture Cafe Bar focuses on comedy shows and The One 690 keeps the go-go tradition alive. In Ortigas, O Bar has been the top address for big drag nights since 2005. For a quieter start there’s Fred’s Revolución on historic Escolta Street; the BGC club Nectar closed in early 2025.
When to go?
- June – Metro Manila Pride: The Pride march with festival is one of the largest in Asia and most recently took place in Quezon City (check dates with the organiser).
- All year – circuit parties: White Party and Black Party Manila attract thousands of guests from all over Asia (check dates with the organiser).
Our favourites
- O Bar – drag at an international level
- Rampa Drag Club – fresh energy from the new drag generation

Practical tips
- Plan your evening by district: a journey between Quezon City, Ortigas and Manila can take an hour in traffic – Grab is the most convenient option.
- The big drag shows start late, often only after midnight; book a table at O Bar at the weekend.
- Keep valuables close to your body and, late at night, take an app taxi rather than walking.
