Brno is the Czech Republic’s relaxed second gay city – small, studenty and delightfully unfussy. If you’re coming from Prague or Vienna, you’ll find a compact but warm-hearted scene here where it’s easy to connect with people.

Between the old town and Staré Brno

The heart of the scene beats at BUT Bar near Freedom Square, where cocktails, drag shows and an international crowd come together. If you want to dance afterwards, move on to the Staré Brno district: on Hybešova, the long-established Bar Club H46 and the laid-back Dave’s Club are just a few minutes apart. During the week it’s quiet, but on Fridays and Saturdays the city fills with students and weekend visitors. Thanks to the many universities, the crowd is young and mixed.

  • June – Brno Pride Week: A week of parties, culture and discussions, crowned by the parade through the city centre – around 3,000 people came in 2026.
  • All year – drag & karaoke at BUT Bar: At weekends the programme includes drag shows, karaoke and theme nights (check dates with the organiser).
