St. Paul is the quieter, capital-city half of the Twin Cities on the Mississippi. The queer scene is smaller than in neighbouring Minneapolis and is shaped more by neighbourhood bars with a programme of events.
The scene
The scene is split between two places: the Black Hart of Saint Paul in Midway, a queer football bar with drag and burlesque, and Camp Bar and Cabaret in Lowertown with comedy and cabaret. For clubs, you go to Minneapolis.
When to go?
- Football season: watch parties at the Black Hart, and Minnesota United home matches at the nearby Allianz Field
- October: Halloween and burlesque programme at the Black Hart
