Calgary

Calgary is Alberta’s largest city, the gateway to the Rocky Mountains and known for the Calgary Stampede. The queer scene is smaller than in Vancouver or Toronto and centres on a handful of established venues.

The scene

The scene is in the Beltline neighbourhood south of downtown. Twisted Element is the queer club, while on 17th Avenue SW the Texas Lounge and Goliath’s sauna share a building.

When to go?

  • Weekends: Twisted Element is open Thu–Sat until 3am
  • All year round: Goliath’s is open around the clock
