Valletta & St. Julian’s

Malta is the most queer-friendly country in Europe, but its scene is small and personal. People party at the club in Paceville, drink in the lanes of Valletta, and in September Pride takes over the capital.

Between Valletta and Paceville

In Valletta you start the evening on the steps of Cafe Society or at sunset at the lesbian-run Maori Bar right by the water. For dancing, take a taxi to Paceville in St. Julian’s, where Michelangelo Club has been Malta’s only permanent gay club since 2016. Then there are roving party series such as Lollipop, which take place at various venues. The long-standing Monaliza Lounge in Valletta has closed, and Klozet now only exists as an occasional party brand.

When to go?

  • September – Malta Pride: Around ten days of events in Valletta with the Pride March as the highlight, from 4 to 13 September in 2026.
  • Monthly – LipGloss: A queer dance party at Maori Bar in Valletta (check dates with the organiser).

Our favourites

  • Maori Bar – sunset with the queer community
  • Michelangelo Club – the island’s only real dance floor
